Bigger Battle Charas in RM2K3?

You can use battle animations for battle characters, but I think some features (such as flipping them for back attacks) are messed up by this, or at least they are on my antique version of 2k3.

Breach: Awakening

I appreciate your help in pointing these issues out, but next time instead of posting six times in a row, just edit a post and add whatever else you run into or need help with. You can also feel free to PM me.

BUG: Immediately after finishing a battle with a zombie, a battle with the jack-o-lantern dude started.

I had absorbed the zombie, and the game didn't tell me what this meant or what had happened as a result.

Those would be the intended second and third battles, respectively. The jack-o-lantern in that group spawns right after you beat the second zombie.

Capturing a demon adds it to the list of summons Lucas can use in battle.

BUG: Lucas died in battle, due to there being no healing available anywhere. The enemy then attacked Lucas, and did no damage because he was already at 0 hp.

If you beat the Jack-o-lantern, you should have at least one Weak Red Essence, which heals you. If you beat the two zombies and the Jackolantern in the first area, it becomes a safe room. You should notice that REST becomes one of your choices in the pre-menu dialog box. Resting restores health.

BUG: Enter the first room on the left after the forcefield drops. Immediately upon entry, battle starts. After battle, left with a black screen. Black screen could not be recovered from.

This one I'll grant you is legitimate. I am aware that the screen tint messes up when battles trigger at the same time a door event is running. This is one I am aware of, and fixing.

I'm curious though, were you able to see the monsters in the battle, or were they blacked out too? You can tell me in a PM.

BUG: First attempt to summon a shambling corpse "The creature seems to comprehend what you are considering. Banish the shambling corpse?"

Second attempt actually summoned it.

This means that at that point you had already tried using the Banish skill. Banish is used to permanently remove a summon from your party. It isn't particularly well explained in the demo because you're not really supposed to need it that early. I'll have to put in a turn counter that cancels it out if someone uses it without meaning to.

BUG: When changing party order, the confirm/redo options are named "Decision" and "85248" respectively.

That has to do with the version of Rm2k3 I use. It was, I believe, an early translation. None of the error messages are translated, and some menu options are a little off.

BUG:If you go and unlock the cells immediately after getting the first card, you can wind up in a random battle with Fenris talking to you before you meet him.

Edit: Incidentally, this battle is pretty nonwinnable without a summon.

I need to put a chronology variable check in since the detection for whether Fenris is in the party or not clearly isn't working. Also, the high difficulty of attempting to fight alone is on purpose. That is why I made sure the game asks if you really want to open those doors. Also, it is possible to win all three, especially if you are lucky enough to find the knife before the second battle, but highly improbable.

Part of the reason I allow the player to save wherever they want is to give them the freedom to make a mistake without forcing them to trek back to the last safe area every time. The game warns you that something might be a bad idea, but I give the player the choice to make the mistake anyway. As long as you remember to save before trying anything risky, there is no harm in taking the chance.

NaGaDeMo Review Drive

I'm trying again with a different character build, and so far things are going a little smoother. Upgrading the first party member's Wield as soon as possible helps a lot.

Happy birthday kentona!

Happy Belated Birthday wishes.

Starting on Set Discrepancy now.

EDIT: Changed my mind. Navigating the game and especially combat are far too tedious for my taste.

Movement didn't bother me, it felt like an old text based adventure, but I know what you mean about combat. I was really enjoying the atmosphere of the game and the way the story was bulding, but then I hit the area with the security camera and my range attacker kept failing with every shot. Once I finally managed to take the camera out, there were already four or five enemies onscreen. By the time I managed to pass an escape check, the main character was dead and the survivor was picked off entering the next room.

I'm debating whether to give it another try or not. The setting and atmosphere make me want to give it another chance, but the prospect of more combat, especially if we end up with more than two party members at a time puts me in mind of attempting to herd a bunch of retarded cats.

The Dungeon Crawler Review

m4uesviecr - I think there was a miscommunication somewhere. I had nothing to do with creating this game. All I did was write a review for it!

Idiotic things you believed as a child

I remember a D.A.R.E officer talking about the evils of drugs, especially cocaine and how addictive it was. This was right about the time my mom started using a sugar bowl on the dining room table. I'd never seen sugar in granule form. I snuck a taste of that strange white powdery stuff the adults put in their drinks. It was really good. I couldn't stop. I kept dipping in with a finger, then a spoon. I remember thinking "Oh no, I'm hooked on cocaine!"

Then my mom showed me how to make lemonade, and I felt both relieved and like a big idiot when she got to the "now we add the sugar" part.

My dad also used to tell me a story about how I could get new legs if I went to sleep. I used to get terrible leg cramps/growing pains if I ran around a lot, and he'd tell me a story about me getting new legs until I fell asleep. When I woke up in the morning, my legs felt normal again - so for a while I thought I was really going through legs in a hurry.

Then one day I tore a big chunk out of my thigh climbing over a chain link fence (with the points facing up) and asked my dad if I could get my new pair of legs early so I could go ride bikes with my friends. Reality came crashing down and I learned what a tetanus shot was.

I also learned that, for some reason, certain injuries do not hurt at all until you look at them, then once you do, they hurt a lot and will not stop. For a long time.

The Screenshot Topic Returns

There is a little perspective issue with your monsters. Even the human ones, which should be "normal" sized, seem larger than the party. They might BE the same size, but being further from the "camera", it makes them look larger than the party in comparison.

I like the middle one the best, but I think the girl's pose is really unnatural/uncomfortable/anatomically troubling...etc.

EDIT - Also, if you ran your party graphics through Photoshop and use the Despeckle filter a couple of times, followed up with some Sharpen you would match the smoother look of your monsters a little more (which may or may not appeal to you!).

Which game was the biggest disappointement for you?

Mass Effect 3?

The game was great, all the way through... right up to that last ten-fifteen minute mark. Of course, there was some b.s. during the 90% of the game they got right too. The artifact collection was a chore that felt out of place, and the multiplayer aspect being (somewhat?) required for the "best" ending did not sit well with me. I had fun with the game, and didn't try to pull some asinine trade in with it, but it was disappointing. That is not how my Shepard's story should have ended.

Other than that, I haven't been disappointed by many games. They're not that important, they're just there for enrichment or escapism. I was disappointed with Fable 1 when I first started playing it and discovered how full of manure Peter Molyneux was in all the pre-release press. I got into the game as it was, and had a lot of fun with it. Fable 2 was also a disappointment to me. It didn't capture me the way the first one did. I only completed one full playthrough before it went back to the shelf, and I've never felt compelled to buy the third installment.
